Don't lose all your time drafting report cards. Six learning skills per student, and one comment. Milo drafts it from your judgement. Set up the report once. Pick the reporting period. Paste your school's guidelines. Then choose the sub-skills you report on. Next, move a slider for each sub-skill, from zero to one hundred. The label changes as you drag, from Not Yet up to Champion. Milo suggests E, G, S or N for each skill as you go. It's only a suggestion. And you choose the level on the report card. Add a line of evidence if you have one. Type it, or tap the microphone and say it. Your notes shape the next steps. Okay. Generate. Milo drafts one parent-friendly paragraph in Growing Success language. Strengths first, then two or three specific next steps. It is written to fit the character limit for each reporting period. Want it shorter? Select Tighten, and Milo writes a new version. You can also expand it, or request changes in your own words. Set the version you want as active. That's the one. Then copy the text into your board's report system. You approve every word. Student names are never sent to the AI. The real name appears only on your screen. Try Milo free for a month.

Milo drafts

Alex consistently meets deadlines and comes to class prepared with the materials they need, showing a strong sense of responsibility for their learning. Alex is beginning to break larger tasks into smaller steps and, with reminders, manages time during independent work. When given a checklist, Alex completes multi-step tasks successfully. As next steps, Alex will use a checklist to plan the steps of a larger task before starting, check off each step as it is finished, and set a time goal for each part of the task.

Illustrative sample with a fictional student, shortened. Real drafts are one paragraph that fills most of your character limit, and you edit them before they go on a report.

Quick answers

Frequently asked questions

Is Milo an Ontario report card generator?

Yes. Milo drafts Ontario report card comments for Kindergarten and Grades 1 to 8: the six learning skills, subject comments, and the Kindergarten Four Frames. You score on sliders, add evidence if you have it, and approve every comment.

Is it appropriate to use AI for Ontario report card comments?

Yes, when the judgement stays yours. Growing Success puts the teacher's professional judgement at the centre of assessment, evaluation and reporting, and Milo is built around that: you move the sliders, choose each final E/G/S/N level and letter grade, and approve every draft before it goes on a report. Milo helps with the wording, not the evaluation. Check your board's guidance on AI tools too.

How does Milo decide E, G, S or N?

It suggests one from your sliders. Each sub-skill you assess gets a 0 to 100 slider, labelled from Not Yet to Champion as you drag, and the skill's suggested level updates as you go. It is only a suggestion, and the final level is yours. When you generate, the strongest and weakest behaviours carry the most weight, so they lead the comment.

Does Milo use achievement Levels 1 to 4?

Not in report comments. Learning skills use E, G, S and N. For subject comments, Milo suggests a letter grade, such as A- or B+, from your expectation sliders, and you choose the final grade. Levels 1 to 4 appear in Milo's rubric generator.

What does a Milo comment include?

One parent-friendly paragraph in Growing Success language. It opens with one or two strengths, spends much of its length on growth, and gives two or three specific, measurable next steps drawn from your evidence notes.

Can it follow my school's report card guidelines?

Yes. In setup, paste your administrator's guidelines, tone preferences or sample comments, and Milo uses them to shape every comment for that reporting period.

Are my students' names sent to the AI?

No. Before every AI call, Milo replaces each student's name with a placeholder, and the real name appears only on your screen. Unit and lesson drafts are built from your class, grades and the expectations you choose, not from student records. When you adapt a text, worksheet or rubric for one student, Milo uses the short profile you wrote for them, and the student's name is replaced by a placeholder before anything is sent to the AI.

Do I still write the comments myself?

You make every judgement and approve every word. Tighten, expand, ask for changes or build on last term's comment, then set the version you want and copy it into your board's report system.

Does it do Kindergarten?

Yes. Kindergarten uses the Four Frames, with sliders for the skills under each frame and an evidence box for each frame.
